The Jigane is made out of wrought iron that is very soft iron and very low percentage of Carbon content, so it is much easier to sharpen than Goku Nantetsu (soft iron). It is the one of the best Jigane in Japan, but it is hard to get it, because they were peaked to produce 1860s.
Wrought iron is used as excellent Jigane (softer iron), because it is very soft, and tough, and easy to sharpen, and feel excellent during sharpening , and great shock absorber. Japanese carpentry blacksmiths who make high quality chisel or plane use Watetsu or Wrought iron for those cutleries of Jigane
Wrought iron shows very nice layers of iron, because it has to be hold over many times and hammered.
The Hagane is white I steel which is high carbon steel (pure carbon steel).
Jigane is probably at least 150 years old.

Knife total length is 12inch (303mm)

The heel part of the spine of the blade width is 2.5mm (1/8 inch) wide.
The blade width from the heel to the spine is 44mm (1 3/4inch) wide.
The blade is made by Hitachi steel Co., white I steel and Wroght iron. It is Sanmaiuchi which is sandwitched white I steel by Wrought iron both outer sides.
